Biden News Today: Georgia Electoral College casts 16 votes for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris
This
afternoon, the 16 votes of the Electoral College of Georgia were cast in favour
of Democrat Joe Biden for president; and for her running mate, Kamala Harris,
as vice president.
The
state's Democratic voters, including former Gov. Candidate Stacey Abram’s,
gathered in the state Senate chamber on Monday.
Each
of the voters marked a paper ballot that was then collected, counted, and
confirmed. Abram’s then read the results to the other constituents, which
included several state legislators and Democratic activists, including:
Biden
News Today announced Congresswoman-elect Nikema Williams; State Representative
Bob Trammell; State Senator Steve Henson; State Senator Gloria Butler; the
state representative, Calvin Smyre; the state representative, Pedro Marin; the
Mayor of Savannah, Van Johnson; Rome City Commissioner Wendy Davis; the elected
district attorney, Deborah Gonzalez; civil rights activist Bobby Fuse; Sachin
Varghese; the president of the Houston County Democratic Party, Fenika Miller;
the president of the Georgia Young Democrats, Rachel Paule; former Atlanta City
Councilmember Cathy Woolard; and Ben Myers.
Joe
Biden was proud as this is the first time since President Bill Clinton in 1992
that state voters will vote for Democrats.
